Location:  American Legion, 524 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill SC 29731

Guest speaker:  Jeff Yalden.

May 1, 1990 – Jeff Yalden walked on the famous yellow footprints of Parris Island, South Carolina.  A couple of years of desperation, loss of identity, newly married and a child on the way, Jeff was hoping to find purpose and direction, responsibility and guidance in the United State Marine Corps.

After being the Guide and Meritoriously Promoted to Private First Class, Jeff was given orders to Marine Corps Barracks Duty, Cecil Field Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.  He served two years of Barracks Duty and was quickly Meritoriously Promoted to Corporal.  During his two years of Barracks Duty, Jeff was a two-time, Marine of the Year of Cecil Field Naval Air Station, and played for the Marine Corps basketball team.

In September of 1992, Jeff received orders to Camp LeJeune, North Carolina to report to 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division.  Witnessing a Marine Suicide, a quick trip to Iraq, and being the personal driver for Oliver North, Jeff became the Training NCO for 6th Marines.

March 1994, Jeff put  in orders to go to the Drill Field and fulfill a dream he had since childhood, becoming a United States Marine Drill Instructor, he was accepted and shortly was to be promoted to Sergeant.

It was a decision made on weekend while serving Sergeant of the Guard that Jeff’s fate was made for him.  In April 1994, Jeff was Jeff was honorably discharged a United States Marine having served four years in the Marine Corps.

Four years serving in the United States Marine Corps saved Jeff’s life.  He credits his successes today from his time becoming and serving as a United States Marine.
